Hannah CooperHello. My name is Hannah and I am 17 years old. I recently found out that I am allergic to gluten, so my diet is a little more limited than what it used to be. I thought it would be a good idea to create a blog so I could share my food experiences and adventures I have created using food that is okay for me to eat. At first I thought it was going to be hard to adjust my eating habits but so far it has been really easy--except for the few times I have been craving chocolate chip cookies (:
Cooking is one of my favorite hobbies because it relaxing and a really good de-stresser. I love making food for my brother and his friends when they come over--I know it sounds a little weird--but its fun because I get to make a bunch of random dishes from smoothies to simple sandwiches. However, when I cook for myself I tend to stay on the healthier side. Fruits and veggies are my go-to food for lunches and snacks. Whenever I eat them I feel refreshed because they not only are delicious, but nutritious! When I go to college I want to major in Nutrition and Dietetics so I am hoping that my creating this blog and researching the food I use in my recipes I will be able to get a general understanding about eating healthy foods. I am really hoping that this blog will be helpful to other people who are allergic to some of the things that I am allergic to so if you have any ideas or comments just ask (: I also have a blog solely dedicated to my gluten intolerance hannahsglutenfreeadventure.tumblr.com. |
Caera HirschHey. My name is Caera and I'm 16 years old. Mine and Hannah's..almost.. obsessive interest in food is the inspiration for this blog!
I don't think there's anyone who doesn't enjoy food. It's necessary for survival so, it would be hard to believe otherwise! But, some people, take that little bit more of an interest in it, and think of it as a hobby. Getting involved at meal times, creating new dishes, experimenting with flavour combinations, serving others and eating well; ace. A week without being in the kitchen would be stretching it for me. Having travelled abroad, from South Africa to Australia, then France and currently Japan, my pallet has become extremely adventurous and there really isn't a limit to what I can eat. (or how much....) Only recently, has it dawned on me, that cooking/baking is really what I love to do in my free time. I don't know why it's so addicting, but I can take a guess that it's an escape method for me. It allows me to preoccupy my mind and be immersed in a world of enjoyment, when I don't want to be doing or thinking about anything I have no desire to. School is pain, homework is a pain, and I'd rather be busy in the kitchen. It's my down-time. There is no doubt that eating is totally satisfying, but their is just as much enjoyment in being able to produce something for others to enjoy too. To have created something that tastes good and provides happiness to not only you is an accomplishment in itself. And really, cooking does require some knowledge. Free-styling is encouraged, but the success comes naturally if you have the theory behind it! I'm hoping that this blog will provide an interest in food, and an interest in cooking for people who haven't yet caught onto the pleasure it brings to life. Food is embedded into everyones lives and seeing as though you can't escape it, why not make the most of it! GET COOKING. |
